Willow Structures & Sculpture for Landscape Architects & Garden Designers

I collaborate with landscape architects and garden designers to create bespoke willow sculpture, structures and natural features that form part of wider landscape and garden schemes.

From willow arches and moon gates to large-scale sculpture, dens, domes, screens and wildlife installations, each piece is developed around the design, setting and requirements of the project.

Based in South Wales, I undertake commissions across Wales and the UK.

Collaborative Design

I understand that a willow structure or sculpture is often one part of a much larger landscape project.

I am happy to collaborate with landscape designers, garden designers, architects, contractors and other project partners to develop the willow element so that its scale, materials, construction and installation work with the wider scheme.

I can become involved at the concept stage or work from an established design and specification.

From these, I can advise on appropriate willow materials, weave styles, scale and construction methods.

If you only have an initial concept, that's fine too. I am happy to collaborate on the design and develop the willow element with you.

Willow Materials & Construction

Different projects require different approaches.

Dried Willow

Suitable for sculptures and structures where a consistent form is required and the willow should not continue growing.

Living Willow

Suitable for structures designed to grow and develop within the landscape, including arches, tunnels and domes.

Thicker Willow Sticks

Useful for establishing the framework and shape of smaller sculptures and structures.

Structural Frameworks

For larger or more exposed installations, a suitable structural framework can be incorporated where additional strength and stability are required.

I can advise on the most appropriate approach based on the project, site and intended use.

For larger structures, weaving can be carried out on site where this is more practical than transporting a completed structure.

This can be particularly useful for large or complex installations and allows the finished structure to be developed directly within its final environment.

Delivery and installation requirements can be considered during the design stage and included within the project quotation.

Develop the form, materials, weave and construction approach.

03 — Construction

Handweave the willow, either in the studio or on site depending on the project.

04 — Installation

Deliver and install the finished piece, or complete the structure on site.
