Bespoke Willow Structures for Outdoor Spaces
Willow can be woven into structures that are architectural, sculptural and interactive.
I create bespoke willow arches, moon gates, domes, dens, tunnels, shelters, screens and other natural structures for gardens, landscapes, events, visitor attractions and public spaces.
Every structure is designed around its intended setting, dimensions, use and practical requirements.
Willow Arches & Moon Gates
A willow arch or moon gate can create a natural entrance, frame a garden view or provide a sculptural focal point within a landscape.
Each piece can be designed to suit the proportions and character of its setting.
Willow Domes & Shelters
Handwoven willow domes and shelters create immersive outdoor spaces for gardens, events, play environments and visitor attractions.
They can be designed as open structures or more enclosed spaces depending on the requirements of the project.
For larger structures, the design and construction method can be developed around the intended use, location and environmental conditions.

Willow Dens & Tunnels
Willow dens and tunnels encourage exploration and interaction with the natural environment.
They can be designed for gardens, play spaces, visitor attractions, educational settings and environmental projects.
Structures can be made to individual dimensions and developed around the age range, intended use and character of the site.
Willow Screens & Fencing
Woven willow screens and fencing can divide areas, create privacy or provide a natural boundary within a garden or landscape.
The height, density, weave and overall design can be adapted to suit the setting.
Living Willow Structures
Living willow can be planted directly into the ground to create structures that continue to grow and change over time.
Living willow is particularly suited to arches, domes, tunnels and natural play structures where ongoing pruning and weaving form part of the maintenance.
New growth can be woven back into the structure as it develops, creating a living piece of landscape art.

Dried Willow Structures
Dried willow provides a more consistent sculptural form and does not continue growing after construction.
It can be used to create arches, domes, dens, screens, fencing and other outdoor structures where the shape and woven detail need to remain consistent.
Larger Willow Structures
For larger structures, willow can be combined with thicker willow sticks and, where appropriate, a suitable structural framework to provide additional strength and stability.
The construction method is considered from the beginning, taking into account:
Scale
Wind exposure
Ground conditions
Access
Intended use
Transportation
Installation
Maintenance
For larger projects, weaving can often be carried out on site where this is more practical than transporting a completed structure.
